Pictured below
are the stained glass windows that have been used as the basis for a
recent series of sermons. The latest segments appear at the top
(listed in reverse order) so that you can check back periodically for
the updates of future additions.
Our sanctuary
windows
are made of faceted glass with designs that were carefully chosen to
express the ministries of the church symbols. The empty cross
signifying the risen Christ is the central theme of each window. The
overall theme of ministry is portrayed in God’s presence with us in the
baptistery window and flows out through us in world mission. As our
eyes move from the chancel window right and left around the room and
through the narthex door we see in symbols the work of the church. |

Baptistry Window
The
baptistry window is divided by the cross. On the left are the
symbols of God’s action in our life. From the top, one views the
descending hand of God representing God as creator of all life.
The descending dove represents God’s Holy Spirit which sustains us.
At the bottom is the lamb carrying a banner of victory representing
Christ’s victory over death. To the viewer’s right is a cross
arising out of the water signifying Christian baptism and above it is a
butterfly representing the resurrection to new life. In the center
is the chalice of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to remind
us that communion is the focal point of Christian worship. |
 |
Music Window
Back of the
choir loft is a ministry of music window. Music is a ministry to
ourselves and an aid in our worship. Portrayed is the harp, a
trumpet and a music score. |
 |
Peace Window
The dove
with an olive branch in its beak is a symbol of God’s peace. Jesus
as the Prince of Peace calls us to a world ministry of peace making. |
 |
Communion Window
The
sacristy window has a staff of wheat and a cluster of grapes speaking to
us of communion to be prepared, a ministry to Christ’s people as they
come to worship. |
|

|
Nurture Window
The two
fish and five loaves speak of Jesus’ feeding the five thousand. They
suggest we are to nurture one another and to care for the well-being of
others. |

|
Christian Unity Window
The ship
with a cross as the mast has long been a symbol for Christian unity, or
the ecumenical ministry of all the followers of Christ. |
|
 |
Humble Service Window
The
pitcher, bowl, towel and sandals portray Jesus’ washing the feet of the
disciples. |
 |
Marriage & Family Window
The wedding
rings remind us of Christian marriage, while the growing plants speak of
the whole family growing in the Christian faith. |
 |
Evangelism Window
The fish
net reminds us that Jesus said: “I will make you fishers of men.”
Evangelism is a ministry of taking God’s word of salvation to others. |
 |
Outreach Window
The earth
with the stars around it represents our ministry of world mission. We
reach out to all people with the love of Christ in healing, feeding,
caring and providing both physical and spiritual needs. |
 |
Christian Education Window
The open
book and lamp symbolize light on God’s word. Christian education is a
vital concern for ourselves and others. |
