Children

Mission Statement:

Create a Christ-centered environment where children / youth are safe, and are provided guidance to learn to live in a world with God.  This will be done through outreach, fellowship, faith forming and community building activities.

Cherub Church

During the 10:30 worship service, Cherub Church* is held for preschoolers through third grade with “Storytellers” who have been trained by Disciples of Christ leaders and assisted by “Greeters”, volunteer members trained in this program.  The format used at Raymore Christian Church comes from “Godly Play” and “Children Worship & Wonder” and is dedicated toward teaching children how to worship.

By using resources that are “hands-on” and creative, children are invited to “play out and wonder about” the Biblical stories.  They learn to explore the mystery of God’s presence while coming to understand God’s stories in language with which they can relate.  They also have a “Feast” (snack) as a part of their worship and talk to God in songs and prayers.

Candlelighters

These are children in K5th grade who are trained to lead the processions into the church and bring the light of Christ into the sanctuary. The Candlelighters are a part of the 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. worship services.

Church Camping Program

Each summer our youth and children are encouraged to attend church camp.  Our denomination has a beautiful camp ground set in the Tall Oaks, near Linwood, Kansas.  Young people can enjoy horseback riding, a ropes course, camp fires, singing, worship, friendship, and learning more about Jesus Christ at their camp.  Usually the church can help pay for some of the costs of the event for each child.
